First the good news. Last night Lex & I finished building his 1st skateboard. We actually laminated 7 layers of wood, sanded, painted 2 colors, cut out a graphic for the grip surface, attached trucks, bearings and wheels.
The maiden voyage came at about 8pm last night and I don’t think the board has left his side since.
The bad news: I’m having surgery to repair a classic groin hernia tomorrow.
Did you get the hernia from too much skateboarding? 🙂
O yeah, forgot to mention that. If I did anything to cause it, it was probably rock-climbing with the kids in Chi on New Year’s Eve. But I’m leaning towards a general propensity, I’m pretty sure I’ve felt this pain before but it’s always gone away. This time it didn’t.
Not to downplay your hernia surgery, but I was glad to hear that it was the bad news. I was expecting the bad news to be Lex falling and breaking his arm or collar bone or something. But then again, if that were the bad news, he would heal better then you probably will.
Please don’t post any pictures of your groin after the surgery. For that matter, no before pictures either!
Don’t worry, no pictures… I’ve commissioned an artist’s rendering.
Great skateboard! Please tell me he wears a helmet! I thought the same thing Ronnie did, that Lex broke an arm or something. Glad the bad news was just about you, Gary!
