A Baseball Weekend
Lex at Red Sox v Yankees
Lex and I went to the first of a 4-game series Thurs night. Lex’s first night game and first Red Sox game (he learned some new swear words.) We were both really pumped for the evening. Got there very early, in time to watch all of batting practice. Went to the outfield wall to try to catch a ball. Didn’t, altho a ball nearly caught us. Drank soda, ate Cracker Jack, Foot-Long Hot Dogs, Cotton Candy and Lemonade Sherbet. Priceless.
One problem, the Yankees never showed up: 7-0.

Lake Weekend
Yankees vs. Red Sox
This is going to break Gary’s heart, but I set foot in Yankee Stadium (in full Red Sox gear) on Sunday to see the Red Sox beat the Yankees. It was a great game, Manny hit a homer as soon as we were walking to our seats. The bus picked us up in Portsmouth, NH at 6am and dropped us back off around midnight. Thank God I took the next day off of work!
Cousins in the Park
Sunday afternoon we met Natalie (via cellphone navigation) in Central Park. She, her friend Kati, Nancy, Lis, the kids and I had brunch together at The Boathouse, a restaurant located in the park on a small lake. We did a little strolling before we ate and a little after, too.
It was great to see her. The kids got a real big kick out of it… really starting to sink in now just how much family they have. I don’t think Lex knows yet that you can’t marry your cousin, but that’s OK for now.
We decided Nat will come back for the summer, live at our place, and babysit.
Take Me Out to the Ballgame
What a great time! The Yankees beat the Red Sox, Elliot and Adam’s tickets were legit, and the crowd was very well-behaved… in my section.

Make Your Daughter Work Day
Thursday was “Take Your Daughters/Sons to Work Day”. Charlotte went to work with me and I put her to work. We had to edit 3 Yankees promos. I taught Charlotte how it’s done while I cut the first two. Then it was her turn. She cut the 3rd spot. You can see it here.
She truly did most of the work. Well, most of the work that needed to be done. If you watch the spot you’ll see it’s what we call a donut, you basically just need to fill the hole in the middle. And she did that. She took direction from the producer (Joe Pepitone, btw… nephew), and chose the best part of each shot (with a small bit of reassurance from me).
We both had a great day, and not just because she was at work with me…. much more, really. Just walking to work together was special, quality-time. Making mundane chit-chat, talking about people that are homeless, eating lunch, laughing with adult co-workers, shopping leisurely for a b-day present for Lex, listening to music on the train home. It was great.
Record Snow
Spent much of the day digging out from the storm here. We got 20″, NYC got a record 27″. No pix, I was too busy, but Smashmouth kicked butt. Although I must confess, for this kind of big, kinda fluffy snow, a snowblower probably works better. Still better than shoveling.
