Reid (no middle name yet), was born about 6:30 this evening! 8lbs. 8oz., 21in. long. Both Mom and baby are fine. Dawn says he might be a red-head…the name kinda fits. Hope Charlotte doesn’t mind sharing her birthday!
GS2 is on his way…
Grandson #2, that is. Dawn has been in labor for 8 1/2 hours. We’re hoping Charlotte will have a cousin with whom to share her birthday (otherwise he will be a leap year baby)! I’ll keep all posted.
The Gift That Keeps on Giving…
I hope. For those of you who weren’t able to make Gary’s 50th birthday party, we gave him what may turn out to be just that gift. We gave him a $25 bet that the Yankees would win the World Series (oh well), and another $25 bet that the Giants would win the Super Bowl. What I don’t recall is the odds…I think either 30 to 1 or 40 to 1. Funny thing is, Gary isn’t sure where he put the ticket. At this point, he has decided not to look for it so as not to jinx them. I agree, but I certainly hope he’ll have to look for it after the game.
Five years ago I was in Arizona at a business conference. Archie Manning was the motivational speaker at one of our meetings. At the question and answer session, one of my co-workers asked Archie which son was a better quarterback. Surprisingly he said Eli! He stated that Eli had better control than Peyton. He certainly seems to be showing that control in his last few games. Hopefully it will continue.
Wish Gary and the Giants luck!
My Favorite Picture!
I had planned on posting pictures of Blake’s first birthday, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for that. I can’t find them! I thought they had been uploaded to our new computer, but they aren’t. Steve is in Hong Kong & India on business and has our camera with the disk, so…blah, blah, blah. Instead, I’ll post my favorite picture of Blake…he was all sweaty with his hair slicked back but he looks so cute. By the way, Larry, you’re probably the only family member who doesn’t know this, but Dawn is pregnant again. She’s due March 3rd with another boy. How about some Penn State memorabilia if the baby is born on your birthday, the 2nd? Chris’ family has bombarded Blake with University of Illinois stuff and Dawn really wants to get the competition going. Can you help?
Gary’s 50th Birthday Bash
Better late than never. October is such a busy, fun-filled month for us; Steve’s father’s birthday, Steve’s birthday and Blake’s birthday so we’re having a party and even a play ground for the kids from www.softplaydesignandinstallation.co.uk. But best of all this year, was getting together with family to celebrate Gary’s 50th. My pictures are a little out of focus (hopefully Kenny & Gary have better), but I thought my few pictures might get the ball rolling with others posting theirs.
The first two pictures are from our evening at Havana’s. The third is a shot of the Neshaminy Creek in Chalfont from the bridge (remember when it was an old wooden bridge?). The last is one of the covered bridges we visited.
Bergquist Blasts thru Battle Creek…
…and wins the Fall Family Cup! Unfortunately, having the humble husband that I do, I have few other details. And I don’t think we’re going to get the usual blow-by-blow, hole-by-hole write up that Steve F. usually gives (for two reasons; he lost and his computer crashed)! I do know that Steve B. also came in 3rd for the entire Battle, apparently blowing his chances for 1st place on one hole (with a score of 15 on that hole).
I think there will be a challenge by Brian very shortly. Steve and he actually played golf two weeks ago and Brian beat the pants off Steve. He is very anxious to play his father again…especially if he can win the “Cup”…any interest Steve and Ron?
The "Thinkers"
We just spent a week in Orlando at our timeshare checking out what amenities Marriott had to offer families…we can’t wait to take Blake (with or without his parents). We probably should wait till he can appreciate Disney, but we were pleased to see how family oriented the timeshare is.
Of course, while there, we saw Linda, Richie and Harry. Harry looks absolutely fabulous (as you can see in these pictures)! He’s 92 now, 93 in June. He’s in assisted living and still has his driver’s license. He basically drives to Linda’s once or twice a week, or to a store here or there (only day-time). We met for lunch the day we arrived, then golfed another day at Linda and Richie’s country club. Harry joined us for lunch after the first nine holes, then watched us tee off the back nine. Had a great visit with all of them!
Blake Still is a "Bean"…
Dawn and Chris went on a 5-day vacation, so we took care of Blake. Since my arms could not handle the 15 lbs 12 oz of constant jumping up-and-down, we bought him a jumperoo. He loved it…spending over 30 minutes at a time non-stop jumping until he fell asleep right in it! Blake also had his 4 month check-up the day before Dawn & Chris left, so I got to start him on rice cereal (Dawn got to give him his first feeding). What a mess!
We also have a piano virtuoso on our hands (Larry, note what he is playing…you gave this keyboard to Shannon when she was little).
We had a great time with him, but I now understand why grandparents like to send the kids home…their bodies need to recoup!
Our "Grand-den" and Go Bears!!!!
Since Blake has been spending so much time here (we love it!) we decided to convert his mommy’s old bedroom into a room for him. We originally set up Shannon’s old crib, but then decided it was a little too worn so we invested in a new one. In order to be fair to any future grandchildren we are not calling it Blake’s room, it’s the “Grand-den”.
I’ve also attached a current picture of Blake…very close up. Looks as though he will have hazel eyes like his daddy and his reddish hair is starting to turn brown, also like his daddy. He still has a round, very round face like his mommy (and grandpa).
Hope everyone is doing well! Haven’t had any personal news on here for a while…where is everyone? Watching the Bears, I hope!!!
Love,
GrandMar
