Father’s Day

Spent the day at our local minor league stadium.  Charlotte’s softball teamed was honored before the game, accompanying the home team as the players were announced.  Everybody had a good, long day at the park.  Lex got a foul ball, and all kids got to run the bases and play catch in the outfield after the game.

  1. Nice park. I remember visiting it when Penn State played in the NCAA regionals there in 1996.

Looks like the team had fun. I’ve got season tickets to our minor league team and enjoy spending summer eves there.

Does Charlotte play short for the team or did the ceremony lineups not reflect their actual positions?

  2. Fun day! Charlotte’s counterpart seemd to be very interested in talking to her…some of the guys didn’t seem as friendly (that’s a shame for the other girls). Very exciting!!

  3. Charlotte’s coach took the recreational aspect of the softball league quite seriously, and made sure he always rotated the girls according to the rules and spirit of the league. Many coaches didn’t do this. So Charlotte played many positions, but in crunch-time, yes, she was the shortstop. The girls were introduced at the positions that the coach envisioned as his “dream lineup”. BTW, in that lineup, Charlotte batted 3rd.

  4. Yeah, she really swings the bat. FWIW, her nickname was “Gary Sheffield”. (Which basically means she either takes the head off the third-baseman or the third-base coach.)
